WHAT TO WEAR FOR THE SESSION

For timeless and natural photos that highlight your connections:

  • Color Palette: Stick to neutral or earthy tones. Choose shades like soft greens, beiges, and browns, or go for gentle pastels and off-whites. These hues are flattering in photos and will look great as wall art.
  • Textures: Incorporate a mix of textures like denim, wool, linen, lace, corduroy, and cotton. Layering different textures adds depth and interest. Consider adding accessories like scarves, beanies, or knitted throws for a cozy, nostalgic feel.
  • Colors to Avoid: Dark colors such as black, navy blue, and dark grey can overshadow the overall image. Avoid black jeans for men; however, blue denim is acceptable.
  • Newborn Attire: Choose simple and classic outfits, like plain onesies or bloomers, and a muslin wrap with subtle patterns. Neutral-toned crochet or knitted blankets add a lovely touch of texture.
  • Children’s Clothing: Rather than matching outfits, opt for coordinating clothing that complements each other. Avoid clothing with large logos or graphics, and prioritize comfort for the best results.

PREPARING FOR THE SESSION

  • Enjoy the Experience: The goal is to have fun and capture genuine moments. I’ll guide you with prompts, so there’s no need to worry about the details.
  • Timing: The time estimate provided is a guideline; I’ll stay until we’ve captured everything needed. Feel free to take breaks for snacks without concern.
  • Bedding: If the session includes shots on your bed, choose plain-colored sheets in light or earthy tones to create a clean, distraction-free backdrop.
  • Warmth: Ensure the area where we’ll be taking photos is warm and comfortable, especially for newborn sessions. A cozy environment helps keep the baby calm and content.
  • Baby Prep: Dress your baby in the outfit intended for the photos to avoid disrupting their routine. If you have a toddler, a quick feeding session before I arrive can help keep them engaged during family shots.
  • Snacks: Provide healthy snacks for toddlers and kids to maintain their energy levels. Opt for easy-to-eat options like cheese and crackers or sliced apple. Avoid messy foods that might stain clothing or create a mess.
  • Post-Session Treat: Have a small treat ready for after the session to reward and motivate the kids.
